Honda X8R Restrictions 35 Mph Limit

The Honda X8R and SFX are restricted in Europe to 35mph max speed. This is brought about by three restrictors. 

The first being the Cdi unit which is located next to the battery under the front cover of the bike. CDI stands for Capacitor Discharge Ignition this electrical unit controls max out put of revs and how the engine is allowed to operate as a whole. In the Europe the X8R is sold with a restrictor built in to this unit to stop the Cdi going over a rev barrier which therefore stops the bike exceeding 30-35mph despite being designed to do 50 - 55 mph.

Our Cdi services on this site are provided to help over come this restriction very cheaply and allow you to reach 45mph with just the Cdi derestricted and 55mph+ with all three restrictors removed.

The second restriction is the variator. This is located on the left hand side of the crankshaft.
